Description:
This webinar builds on foundational amyloidosis imaging skills through a case-based exploration of advanced strain echocardiography, artificial intelligence, and the evolving role of ultrasound in clinical trials. As the therapeutic landscape for cardiac amyloidosis continues to expand, so does the sophistication required of diagnostic imaging. Clinical trials increasingly depend on precise, reproducible echo measures to track treatment response, and AI tools are rapidly moving from research curiosity to practical adjunct.
Using real-world cases, we will:
Dig into nuanced strain patterns, including borderline and discordant apical sparing presentations
Examine how AI-assisted analysis is beginning to support pattern recognition, quantification, and workflow efficiency in amyloidosis imaging
Explore how echocardiographic endpoints are being used in ongoing and emerging clinical trials for both ATTR and AL amyloidosis, and what that means for imagers working with trial-enrolled patients.

Course/Activity Information

Learning Objectives:

  • Analyze complex and borderline strain imaging cases, including discordant or atypical apical sparing patterns, to refine diagnostic and prognostic assessment in cardiac amyloidosis.
  • Evaluate the role of AI-assisted analysis in strain echocardiography, distinguishing where it adds diagnostic value from where clinical judgment should take precedence.
  • Describe how echocardiographic parameters are being used as endpoints in ongoing and emerging clinical trials for ATTR and AL cardiac amyloidosis.
  • Apply case-based reasoning to identify diagnostic pitfalls in advanced amyloidosis imaging scenarios and formulate strategies to avoid misdiagnosis in complex presentations.

The American Society of Echocardiography is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

The American Society of Echocardiography designates this activity for a maximum of 1.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn MOC points in the American Board of Internal Medicine’s (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program, the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP) MOC program, and/or the American Board of Anesthesiology’s (ABA) Maintenance of Certification in Anesthesiology Program® or MOCA 2.0®. It is ASE’s responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABIM and ABP MOC points and/or ABA MOCA 2.0®.   Physicians will earn MOC and/or MOCA 2.0 points equivalent to the amount of CME credits claimed for the activity.
