Learning Objectives:
- Recognize that the LVOT shape most commonly resembles an hourglass rather than a cylinder or funnel.
- Acquire the measurement of LVOT at the annulus rather than 5 or 10 mm below the annulus, providing the most reliable measure of aortic valve area and stroke volume using derived CMR stroke volume as the gold standard.
- Apply the biplane Simpson method to be used for reliable stroke volume and aortic valve area estimation when TVI derived stroke volume is not accurate or available.
